Laveno is the tourist capital of the eastern shore of Lake Maggiore and is known for its marina that links it to the Piedmont shore. It is located between the blue of the Lake Maggiore and the green of the surrounding mountains, including the important Monte Sasso del Ferro, known for its old cableway. Laveno is also considered an important centre for the production of porcelains and ceramics, among the largest in Italy and Europe.
