Rocca di Angera (12 km)

Angera’s Borromeo Castle towers majestically over the southern shores of Lake Maggiore from a spur of chalky cliffs. The fortified mediaeval castle is steeped in examples of its long, illustrious history, such as the Hall of Justice with its outstanding series of twelfth-century frescoes, the historical halls and the castle tower that offers breath-taking panoramic views over the lake. Borromeo Castle is also home to the Doll and Toy Museum, the most notable of its kind in Europe. Visitors will also enjoy the Mediaeval Garden within the crenelated castle walls and the new Ala Scaligera which hosts temporary exhibitions and events.

Educational activities dedicated to pre-school, primary and secondary schools are also available. The activities include educational workshops and costume adventures, game visits and animated tours.
