Dedicated to those who wish to know the history of Santa Maria del Monte through enjoying the beauty of Romanesque sculptures, precious miniatures, and antependia of the Sforza period, the Baroffio Museum is a treasure of treasure trove of art. The Sanctuary’s extraordinary historical-artistic collection is joined by a collection of paintings by Giuseppe Baroffio Dall’Aglio and a section of 20th-century sacred art.

The brightly lit 20th-century rooms alternate with the ancient rooms hidden beneath the Sanctuary, with remains of 15th-century frescoes. Outside the museum is a terrace offering one of the most beautiful views in Lombardy.

The “Madonna con il Bambino” (the Virgin and Child) by Domenico and Lanfranco da Ligurno is the iconic image of the museum.
